This bush is among my favorites. I love to watch the butterflies, hummingbirds, and hummingbird moths visit it frequently throughout the warmer months. I was super excited when I saw this happy little bloom peeking out at me, especially this late in the season. What an unexpected treat!
I'm really enjoying this daily painting time. Time to slow down, observe, and appreciate the things around me that I would normally miss. I love the slightly grayish cast of some of the leaves. It was fun to use the complementary colors of violet and yellow to achieve differing degrees of gray. It came in very handy for the shadowy concrete beneath the bloom. Maybe tomorrow will bring me another late bloomer. I can always hope!
