Reflections

Today, I had little time to paint but was determined to keep this new habit going, so I opted for a quick little study on reflections thanks to a tutorial by Susan Chian, who I discovered today.

Using wet-on-wet technique, I laid in the colors for the tree line reflections. It was wonderful to watch the watercolor do its thing. I noticed how there was a sweet spot, in terms of paper wetness. Specifically, if the paper was too wet, the color really bled and lost the definition of the tree. I learned to be patient and work with both the paper and pigment to get the desired effect. I look forward to exploring this technique more in the future.
